What happens when snow-remover-salt is stored in a metal container?
I am aware there is a reaction; and obviously is not a good idea, as far as the integrity of the crystals and metal; specially metal.
salt water is more corrosive than fresh water.
this is because of two effects. first, salt is hydroscopic, it will suck water from the air to oxidize (rust) metal. second, salt water has a electrochemical property that encourages the migration of metal ions.
Incidentally, salt is salt. Table salt might be slightly more pure and is enriched with iodine, but snow removal salt is plain old NaCl, also.
